[Question] PCI-e vs USB WiFi Adapter: Which One Is Better?

Hello members,

I’m wondering which way is recommended for adding Wi-Fi to a system. I’ve always used USB adapters until now but I’m in the process of building my first PC and want to know if USB is equivalent to a PCI card or if I will create a network bottleneck by using USB? Motherboards don’t seem to include wi-fi generally?

Go for a PCI-E card. They always have multiple antennas which can give better speeds and I’ve always gotten better reception with them because of the external antennas which you can mount at a higher point.

A USB one can be handy if you need to take it on the go, but for a desktop just get a PCI-E one.
